8 Tips to Extend Your Smartphone’s Battery Life

Last Updated on January 27, 2021

Smartphones have become essential in our day to day activities. We use smartphones to check our email, watch videos on Youtube, read news, listen to mp3s, take pictures, play games, etc. I can go on about how powerful that little device in your pocket is, but I’m pretty sure you get the idea.

One of the major downsides of cell phones, in general, is battery life. Yes this is a 1st world problem, and it’s quite sad that as a society we always tend to focus on the flaws instead of perks. But this issue is very reasonable, especially when you truly need to use your phone because of an emergency.

I hope in the future we will have batteries that will last for days, week, or possibly months. Until then, I would like to provide you with some handy tips and tricks on how you can extend the battery life of your mobile device. Enjoy!

1. Brightness Level

Brightness of the display screen greatly affects the performance of the battery. Try turning the brightness to the minimum level when you have enough light around or you can also adjust the level to “Automatic” in the display settings. This quick and simple fix can save your battery power without needing it to charge regularly. Also remember that the bright screen you’re staring at is really bad for your eyes. If you can, I strongly suggest installing justgetflux.com on your device.

2. Vibration mode

Vibration notifies you about the incoming calls and messages whenever you’re in meetings and at the places where it’s compulsory to keep the phone on silent mode. But if you don’t need your phone to stay on silent,  try using ringtones for all incoming calls and text notifications.

3. Connectivity features

Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3G are all wonderful features to use but they’re eating up your battery when they’re not in use. Yes, even if they’re still “On.” Keep all those connectivity features switched off when they are not required.

4. Applications

Had a quick word with your friend on Watsapp? Nice, but leaving these apps on will still consume your battery. If there are any particular apps which are not useful at a particular time then it is always better to fully close them so they’re not running in the background.

5. Charging

This trick is not always possible, but try draining the battery charge or in other words let the battery power get discharged on its own. Also, when you charge the phone always charge the phone to a “100%”. This will not only increase the battery performance but will also increase the life of the battery.

6. Battery Saver Apps

Using an app such as Battery Doctor, available for both iOS and Android, is a great option to save battery life. This free app shows which apps are preserving more battery power and the remaining battery time of a particular device. There are other apps that do this as well, be sure to do some research before downloading a particular one. If it’s free, then go right ahead and give it a shot.

7. Screen Timeout

Try and put your screen in saving mode as soon as you finish the mobile operations. Adjust the screen saving time to the minimum so that phone automatically goes to the saving mode withing a minute or few seconds.

8. Notifications

Try and minimize the notifications each app. You can do this in the settings menu. Constant connectivity to the internet will update your applications every time something new happens. This is a big waste of power. Do you really need to have Twitter running in the background? Can check it periodically? Try and minimize getting notifications from friends and family in working hours. It will help make you more productive and save your battery.

I hope these tips will help you. If you have some personal suggestions for maximizing cell phone life, feel free to share them in the comment section below.
